At each meeting, an attendance list will be circulated for your signature.  Attendance records are also needed for ALL events that we either sponsor or attend (like region meetings, etc.)  The chairman of the event is asked to send a list of workers/volunteers to the secretary as soon as the event is over.  Also, if you attend a Lions event
outside of Acton, please let me know as that attendance can be used to make up a missed club meeting.

Shredding project:  in consideration of the cost of sponsoring this event, it was decided that we should approach the Palmdale Club to be the co-sponsor and thus share the $650 fee charged by the shredding company; either that or seek out a corporate sponsor. President Sondra took on the role of the person charged with finding a sponsor in the community.  The suggested location for the event is Vincent Station and it was also suggested that we ask the public for a “suggested donation” as a fee for the shredding of their documents.
  1.  Recycling Project – President Sondra asks that each member bring 10 items to each meeting for recycling; plastic water bottles or soda/beer cans. A Lion who brings said items would receive one raffle ticket per bag; tickets would be drawn either for prizes or for a free dinner at a regular meeting.  Proceeds will go to City of Hope.

  2. Dollar and a Prayer – special prayer for City of Hope will be said at each meeting and a can will be passed for individual donations from members.

  3. Guest Speakers – Lion Bev is in need of speakers for later in the year, please contact her directly. There are already speakers engaged to present information on Hospice Programs and Feng Shui.  It was decided that a guest speaker could be booked for either first or second meeting of the month depending on the standing agenda.

  4. Bartending –It was announced that Lion Mike Godinez has completed an inventory of bar supplies and that Lion Fred Fate will continue to serve as buyer. Bartender will be Lion John Hoover or a replacement. Volunteers will be asked to sign up and Lion John will be given the list so that he may call a replacement if it should become necessary.  It was noted that more members are needed to participate in cleaning of the kitchen and restoration of the meeting area after all meetings and events.

Bartending events:

Cancer Society at Chimbole Center – the board decided to pass on this request since the date of 10/4 conflicts with the largest Pancake Breakfast of the year.

ASMO – 11/8 at Acton Community Center – a Bingo – need volunteers.

Hearts of the West – to support Carousel Ranch. Bartenders must staff two shifts this year; Lions Tina, John(two shifts), Luci, Sondra, Bev, two others have already signed up.

Motion was made by Lion Bev and seconded by
Lion Luci to provide bartending service as stated previously and deny Cancer
Society this year. Motion carried unanimously.

  1.  Regular meeting of August 5 is a Potluck at Carousel Ranch.  A sign-up sheet will circulate; the main entrée will be purchased.

  2.   Club Calendar of Events – President Sondra will set up a calendar and present it at a future meeting for the club’s feedback and approval.

  3. Replacement of the Community Club American flag – Lion John MacLane reported that this is not the club’s responsibility.

  4.  Metro Region Meeting – President and Secretary will meet to design presidential goals and objectives for 2009-2010. More information is needed on the PST Seminars. Head count is still needed.

  5. Attendance records – Secretary will begin keeping attendance records for all events and meetings; be sure to sign in so your attendance can be counted for awards, etc.

  6. Storage Room –Lions Luci, Sondra and Tina offered to organize the storage on the weekend of July 11th since the place is in such disarray.

  7. Cost of Dinner at regular meetings – the cost will be reduced to $6.00 per person for the next three months and will remain as such as long as the monies collected cover the cost of the food. Ideas were presented as to the most efficient way to predict attendance to avoid overages. Each member may either be called or must call themselves if they are not attending a specific meeting.

  8. Scrapbook –volunteer is needed to complete the scrapbook for this year. See President Sondra.

  9.  Donation to the City of Hope – Motion made by Lion Joanne Wayland to give a $50 donation in honor of IPP Virginia Wedding and PDG Ron Burdick in honor of their successful year and PDG Ron’s serving as the installing officer for this club.

  10.  “Fly Dissipation” in the kitchen – presented by Lion Ed – board is asking for suggestions as to how to end this problem, especially during the pancake breakfasts.

  11. Signatures on Club Checks – Motion was made by Lion Tina and seconded by Lion Mike that three Lions should be registered with the bank as legitimate signators of club checks.  Lion Joann would be our 3rd signator since she is most of the time available throughout the day. Although only two signatures are needed, this would prevent delay of payments/deposits should one of the persons be absent or unable to sign. Motion approved.

Meeting was adjourned at 9:33.

Respectfully submitted,

Judi Olson, Secretary
