VDG Marcia Newyear
2009-10
VDG Marcia Newyear has proudly worn her Lion pin for 20
years. She has held several positions in
her club but is most noted for being First Vice president of her club forever.
Not necessarily a person that does things in order, in 2003-2004
she held the position of Desert Region Chair, and in 2004-05, Desert Zone “A”
Chair and finally she was able to secure the title of President of Acton Lions
Club for two years. Marcia has been a
presenter at the USA/Canada Forum for the past two years and will be a
Moderator this year in Memphis.
She has been Acton Lions Club Lion of the Year and District
4-L1 Lion of the year. She has received two District Governor Appreciation
Awards, the International President Leadership Medal and is a Melvin Jones
Fellow.
Marcia is proud of her husband, Past District Governor
Bill, who is at present the Leadership chair for the Multiple District for California and her
daughter, LAPD officer Channing, who has been on the force for 10 years.
She is better known in the Multiple District 4 and
District 4-L1 as FLASH because of
her right hand having a camera bonded to it.
